About Royton Park
Royton Park is a large municipal park on Bleasdale Street in Royton, covering around 19 hectares and managed by Oldham Council. It was opened in 1911 to celebrate the coronation of King George V and remains one of the main green spaces in the north of the borough, designed to appeal to all ages. For families and young people, the park has a playground, a skate park and teen shelters, giving it a strong draw for older children as well as toddlers. A good range of sport is available, including a bowling green, a five-a-side football area, a tennis court and a basketball court, while ornamental gardens add a quieter, more formal dimension to the grounds. A car park serves visitors, and toilets are available when the gardeners are on site. Dog walkers are welcomed in the park. Entry is free and the park is open to the public, making it a versatile local destination that combines active play, organised sport and landscaped gardens within a single site close to Royton town centre.
