About Wensum Park

Wensum Park is a riverside municipal park about a mile north of Norwich city centre, run by Norwich City Council and free to enter. Opened in 1925, it is known for its formal, geometric terraced design stepping down towards the River Wensum, with a riverside bridge walk, mature trees and flower beds. Families are drawn to its children's playground, which has been given a modern makeover: the main play area now features the tallest slide tower in the city's parks at just under six metres high, along with a rope swing, a multi-unit climbing frame, spinning seats and swings. There is also a smaller play space suited to babies and very young children at the far end of the park. A summer paddling pool is a popular feature on warm days, and there are picnic areas and open grass for games. Public toilets are available on site. With its distinctive riverside setting, attractive planting and refreshed play equipment, Wensum Park offers a free and enjoyable day out for families in the north of Norwich.
