About Mayfield Park
Mayfield Park is Manchester city centre's first new public park in more than 100 years, opened on 22 September 2022 a short walk from Piccadilly station. Designed by Studio Egret West and built for around £23 million, the 6.5-acre park sits on the River Medlock, a stretch of which was uncovered after more than 50 years hidden in a culvert. Its adventure play area has six slides, crawl tunnels, rope bridges and chimney-shaped play towers that nod to the site's industrial past, alongside a public lawn, riverside walkways and 142 newly planted trees.
