About Standalone Farm

Standalone Farm is a traditional working farm at Letchworth Garden City, run by the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation and an easy outing from Luton. Set across open fields, it is a hands-on visit built around real farm life: children can help feed the animals, watch cow milking demonstrations and groom the ponies as part of the daily activity programme. Animals include sheep, donkeys, goats, alpacas, ducks, cows and more. Tractor and trailer rides run around the sheep pens, and there is a well-equipped adventure playground with swings, an assault course and climbing frames suited to children up to about 12, a separate toddler play area, a sandpit with buckets and spades, and a play barn with ride-on tractors. An on-site cafe serves hot food until mid-afternoon, and there are toilets and parking. The farm is open daily from February to October (10am-5pm) and for a shorter day through November (10am-4pm), closing over the winter months for maintenance and animal care. Admission is good value, with family tickets and free entry for under-12-month-olds and for carers with ID.
