About Sefton Park Playground
Sefton Park is one of Britain's great Victorian parks, laid out in a naturalistic French style and opened in 1872 on former royal-forest land bought by the Corporation of Liverpool. Its 235 acres are listed at Grade I on the National Heritage List for England and wrap around a serpentine boating lake, streams and the wooded Fairy Glen. At its heart stands the Palm House, a three-tier domed glasshouse restored in 2001 that now hosts free community events. For families there is a children's playground with swings, slides, climbing frames and a roundabout, alongside wide open lawns, a statue of Peter Pan and cafés for a break — including one beside the Palm House.
