About Meanwood Valley Urban Farm

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm is a registered-charity city farm tucked into the green Meanwood Valley just north of central Leeds. Although not completely free, its admission is deliberately nominal - around £3 for adults, 50p for children and free for under-2s - so it is one of the most affordable animal days out in the city, with annual membership giving unlimited free entry. The farm is home to Dexter cows, Whitefaced Woodland sheep, two donkeys, alpacas, goats, pigs, rabbits, hens and ducks, all cared for with a strong conservation and education focus. Beyond the animals there is a children's playground, vegetable and ornamental gardens, ponds and woodland trails to explore, plus a cafe and farm shop. It opens 10am to 4pm seven days a week, including bank holidays, and closes only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. There is no need to book - families simply pay by cash or card at reception on arrival. With parking, toilets and gentle terrain, it makes a relaxed, low-cost visit for families with young children, and supporting the farm helps fund its community and conservation work.
