About Two Furrows Recreation Ground

Two Furrows Recreation Ground is a community park in the Golcar ward of Kirklees, on the hillsides west of Huddersfield and sitting next to Golcar Junior Infant and Nursery School. It is managed by Kirklees Council and is free and open to the public. The site was refurbished under the council's Playable Spaces Strategy, a programme run with Public Health to raise the quality of play provision across the borough, and the redesign lifted the play area's measured play value by just under half. The upgraded play area was created to appeal and be accessible to all age groups and now features two large climbing units, a swing set that includes an inclusive swing seat, monkey bars and a Supernova roundabout, along with natural play elements such as logs, boulders and stepping stones. New benches and a picnic bench were added so families can sit while children play. As a compact neighbourhood recreation ground beside a primary school, it is geared towards local play rather than larger facilities like a cafe, toilets or formal gardens, making it a handy free stop for families in the Golcar and Colne Valley area.
