About Mansfield Park
Mansfield Park is a community park in the heart of Partick, in the west end of Glasgow, on Hyndland Street just off Dumbarton Road. Once an underused, windswept space dominated by an obsolete football pitch, it was transformed following an inclusive public consultation led by the community group Friends of Mansfield Park, reopening as a redesigned park and new public square for Partick. The design features a dramatic two-metre-high sculptural red sandstone 'spine' wall, a grand avenue of lime trees, performance spaces, intimate pocket parks, sun-slopes and a landmark clock tower on Dumbarton Road. For families there are play gardens with equipment including swings and baby swings, a roundabout, a larger play centre with climbing frames and slides and a smaller play centre for younger children, alongside a small multi-sport pitch, a fitness plaza and youth facilities. The park also hosts a farmers market on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. Combining play facilities, sport, performance and gathering space in a dense urban neighbourhood, Mansfield Park is a free, public green space managed within Glasgow City Council and a lively community hub for Partick.
