About Dawsholm Park

Dawsholm Park is a large woodland park and Local Nature Reserve in the north-west of Glasgow, adjoining the Kelvindale, Maryhill and Temple areas and operated by Glasgow City Council. The land was bought by Glasgow Corporation from Sir Archibald Campbell of Succoth in 1922, and much of the park was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 2007, with the reserve extended again in 2022. Covering around 33 hectares (82 acres), it consists mostly of woodland with grass and wildflower meadows in the south-east, and sits on the River Kelvin north of the Clyde, crossed by a stone bridge. For families there is a play area with swings and a small slide, set in the large open grassed area in the north-west of the park. The woodland is criss-crossed by an extensive network of footpaths, and during 2020-21 the council carried out access improvements upgrading paths and cycleways and creating an enhanced link to the River Kelvin walkway and cycleway. Parts of the grassland are managed by conservation grazing with Highland cattle. With its mix of play area, meadows, river frontage and quiet woodland walks, Dawsholm Park is a well-used green space and nature reserve for north-west Glasgow.
