About Union Park
Union Park is a City of Edinburgh Council play park on Carrickknowe Drive in the Carrick Knowe area in the west of the city. The play area was first built in 1994 and was completely refurbished with new play equipment and a safer surface, with the refreshed play area completed in November 2014. It features swings for all ages, an inclusive infinity bowl roundabout, a falling star springer, two multi-play units suitable for toddlers through to teens and a rodeoboard. The equipment is aimed mainly at nursery and primary-school children, with one or two features designed to keep older children interested too. The inclusive roundabout makes the play area more accessible for a range of users. As a free, open neighbourhood play space it is managed by the City of Edinburgh Council and is freely accessible year round for local families in Carrick Knowe. The refurbishment gave the play area a safer impact-absorbing surface and a modern mix of equipment, and its spread of swings, roundabout, springer and multi-play units means there is something for a range of ages to enjoy in one compact, well-used local spot.
