About Leith Links

Leith Links is a large historic open space in the heart of Leith, managed by the City of Edinburgh Council. Originally used as a golf course and long a common for the people of Leith, it is now a wide green space of tree-lined avenues and walkways. Its headline family attraction is the play park, opened in November 2019 as one of the capital's largest play spaces. The playground is divided into zones by age and ability: a small-child sand area with a pirate ship, play unit and sand toys; a bigger zone with a larger pirate ship, climbing net, zip line, fireman's pole and slide; and separate equipment including climbing boulders, swings, a roundabout, balancing beams, a trampoline, a climbing frame and a second, bigger zip line. A parkour unit, a Rolli trampoline designed for wheelchair users and a natural play area with a stilt walk and log stack add to the mix, and the play surface uses woodchip and rubber safer-surfacing. Beyond the playground the park has playing fields, a community orchard, tennis courts, petanque, toilets and seating. Big, inclusive and recently rebuilt, Leith Links is a standout free playground for families across north Edinburgh.
