About Harrison Park

Harrison Park is a Green Flag community park of around 7 hectares in the Polwarth area of south-west Edinburgh, managed by the City of Edinburgh Council. The Union Canal runs along its southern edge, and the park is split into two parts either side of Harrison Road, linked by the canal towpath which passes under a bridge. It provides a range of recreational facilities including sports pitches, a cycle path and two children's play areas. The main multi-play unit features a slide, a climbing wall, a fireman's pole and climbing nets and frames, and there are educational activity boards offering times tables, mazes and word searches to keep children busy. From the park you can step straight onto the Union Canal walkway, a flat, traffic-free route ideal for walking and cycling that runs from Edinburgh towards Falkirk. The park also includes a formal garden with bedding displays and roses, plenty of seating and wheelchair access. It has held a Green Flag Award since 2007 in recognition of its quality as a greenspace. Close to Polwarth and Fountainbridge, Harrison Park is a pleasant, free local park for families.
