About Jesus Green
Jesus Green is a large area of open parkland grass lying just north of Cambridge city centre, bordered by the River Cam, Victoria Avenue and Jesus College. Managed by Cambridge City Council, it is divided by handsome avenues of London plane and horse chestnut trees that give the green its distinctive character. Families come for the children's play area, while older children and teenagers make use of the skate park and free table tennis tables. The park is best known for Jesus Green Lido, one of the longest open-air swimming pools in the country, open during the summer season. There are also public grass tennis courts, a barbecue area with stones set out for portable barbecues, public toilets and a refreshments kiosk. Its riverside setting makes it a popular spot for picnics and walks, and the independent Jesus Green Association helps protect the park's interests. The green is open and free to access, sitting within easy walking distance of the city centre and the colleges along the River Cam.
