About Windmill Hill City Farm

Windmill Hill City Farm is a much-loved community charity in the heart of Bedminster, just south of Bristol city centre. It is a fun, friendly and free place for families to meet farm animals, explore the gardens and enjoy the outdoors. The farm keeps goats, pigs, sheep and cattle, along with chickens, in paddocks, pens and a cattle shed that children can wander around and watch. There is a children's play area and a Farm Adventurers space for younger visitors, plus community gardens, a woodland walk and a meadow to explore. The site is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm, and entry is free, though the charity welcomes donations to help cover the cost of caring for the animals and running its community programmes. An award-winning, child-friendly cafe serves food and drink daily until 4:30pm, and there is a farm shop and gift shop too. Public areas are level and buggy-friendly, although some paths can get muddy in wet weather. The farm also runs arts and crafts, cooking and wellbeing workshops for all ages, making it a genuine family day out rather than a working commercial farm.
