About Woodgate Valley Urban Farm

Woodgate Valley Urban Farm is a community city farm in Bartley Green, founded by local volunteers in 1988 and run today by a registered charity. Tucked beside Woodgate Valley Country Park on the west side of Birmingham, it gives city families an affordable, hands-on taste of farm life. Children can meet a mix of friendly animals including rare-breed sheep, pigs, goats, a donkey, chickens, ducks and rabbits, and buy a little feed to help with feeding time. Alongside the animals there is a children's playground with a climbing frame, tunnels and a tube slide, swing nets and bouncy springers, plus gardens, orchards and picnic areas to enjoy. A visitor centre houses a reasonably priced cafe serving snacks, hot food and ice creams, with toilets and baby-changing, and there is a large free car park. The farm opens at weekends and through the school holidays with a small admission charge of around £2 per person, keeping a family day out within reach. It sits at the edge of the Country Park, so a visit combines well with woodland and meadow walks.
