About Stewart Park
Stewart Park is a Victorian neighbourhood park in the Hilton district of north-west Aberdeen, managed by Aberdeen City Council. Established in 1894 using funds bequeathed by Mrs Jane Taylor specifically for a playground for the children of Woodside, it has family play at its very heart. Covering around 2 hectares, it is a classic local green of lawns, big mature trees and a children's playground, popular with families and dog walkers alike. Alongside the play area are all-weather tennis courts and bordered cricket and football pitches, giving older children and adults space for sport. The park keeps several Victorian curiosities, including monumental whale jaw-bone arches presented in 1903 and an Italian-style ornamental fountain of the same year. Next to the park lies the Woodies, a former granite quarry now converted to wooded parkland, extending the space for walks and exploration. Quieter than Aberdeen's larger flagship parks, Stewart Park offers a relaxed, community feel for a straightforward family visit. Free to enter, it is a well-used local green space in the north of the city.
