About Hazlehead Park

Hazlehead Park is the largest and one of the most historic parks in Aberdeen, covering around 180 hectares of woodland and open grounds and managed by Aberdeen City Council. Its centrepiece for families is a 1 million pound playpark, funded through a Scottish Government and COSLA play-park renewal scheme, designed to cater for all ages and abilities. The new play area boasts giant towers, a large zip line, musical items, interactive panels and role-play features, with a purpose-made trail winding through the wooded section. Inclusivity was central to the design, with a large wheelchair-accessible play unit and wheelchair-accessible trampolines, and much-loved old favourites such as the jeep and sand digger were kept. Beyond the playpark the sprawling estate offers Scotland's oldest maze, first planted in 1935, a Pets' Corner, golf courses, a pitch-and-putt, football pitches and a horse-riding school, along with sculptures including the Piper Alpha memorial and a Parkrun course. A refurbished cafe reopened in 2022, and there is on-site parking. Free to enter, Hazlehead is a full-day destination for Aberdeen families.
