About Holmebrook Valley Park

Holmebrook Valley Park is a 130-acre Green Flag award-winning park on the western edge of Chesterfield, reached via Watermeadow Lane off Newbold Road. A former valley landscape of sports fields, woodlands and hay meadows, it is free to enter and open to pedestrians 24 hours a day all year round, closing to vehicles at dusk. The park has multiple children's play areas spread across the site, typically close to the car parks, with equipment that includes swings, slides, a climbing frame and a zip wire, alongside a free outdoor gym with equipment for all ages and abilities. Families benefit from more than 100 free parking spaces, public toilets and a cafe with vending near the visitor centre. Beyond the play equipment there is plenty to explore, including a central lake, waymarked cycle trails, an orienteering route, a petanque rink, picnic tables and an art sculpture trail. Weekly health walks set off from the park on Thursday mornings. Managed by Chesterfield Borough Council, Holmebrook Valley is a firm local favourite for family outings, dog walks and cycling, and has held its Green Flag status for more than ten years.
