About Baylis Park

Baylis Park is described by Slough Borough Council as the most historic park in the town. The park and the adjoining Godolphin Recreation Ground were once part of the estate of Baylis House, a Grade I listed building whose grounds give the park its mature, formal character. Today it combines heritage with everyday family use. For children there is a play area with springers, set within a green and historic landscape rather than a large modern playground, making it a pleasant spot for younger children and a gentle stop on a walk. The park's gardens are a highlight, with formal walled gardens, a wildfowl pond, natural areas and streamside walks to explore, and War Memorial Gardens containing First and Second World War memorials that give the park a reflective quality. An active Park Friends group helps care for the site. The park can be reached from several directions, including Stoke Poges Lane, Woodland Avenue through the tunnel from Salt Hill Park, Oatlands Drive, Whitby Road, Godolphin Road, Belfast Avenue and Pool Lane. It is open 24 hours a day all year round and is free to enter.
