About Harlescott Grange Recreation Ground & Play Area
Harlescott Grange Recreation Ground on Kynaston Road is an open space in the Harlescott area of north Shrewsbury, managed by Shrewsbury Town Council and combining play, sport and wheeled-sports facilities on one site. The play provision is split by age. The infant play area is laid on a wet-pour safety surface with a spring rocker, a multi-play unit and a set of cradle swings for the youngest children. Next to it the junior play area, also wet pour, steps things up with flat swings, a low rotator, an overhead carousel, a nexus free ride and a larger multi-play unit for more energetic older children. For teenagers and skaters there is a wheeled-sports facility on a tarmac surface featuring a flat bank, a fun box, a quarter pipe, a ledge box and a grind rail, and a multi-sports court for ball games. The Town Council has carried out drainage improvements to stop the play area flooding and has replaced ramps at the skate park, part of ongoing work to keep the facilities usable. It is a free neighbourhood site aimed at a wide age range.
