About Queen's Park

Queen's Park is a 33-acre Victorian park in the Audley area of Blackburn, opened in 1887. Its main feature is a serpentine lake of about 1.4 hectares, divided into two sections linked by a channel, with a small wooded island and a footbridge; the smaller section forms a children's paddling pool. The park's children's play area has been completely redeveloped with help from the Safer Streets Fund, with the council investing over £220,000 to install around 25 new pieces of play equipment along with improved lighting and CCTV. A new cycle trail provides a safe space for people of all ages to cycle. Beyond the playground, the park includes wooden sculptures, a cricket wicket on the playing field, a lily pond, woodland and wildflower areas, and a refurbished community pavilion. Managed by Blackburn with Darwen Council, Queen's Park is free to enter and combines Victorian heritage landscaping with modern family facilities, making it a well-used neighbourhood green space for play, walking and informal recreation close to the centre of Blackburn.
