About Bourne Park

Bourne Park is a large, council-run public park in the south of Ipswich, on Wherstead Road beside the Belstead Brook. It is run by Ipswich Borough Council, is free to enter and is open 24 hours a day; it won its first Green Flag Award in 2022. The park is best known among families for its play facilities: just inside the Wherstead Road entrance there is a playground for under-14s, and next to it a paddling pool that opens in the summer months. The pool is shallow, around 40cm at its deepest, making it popular with younger children on warm days. Public toilets sit right by the play area, which is a useful touch for families. A second play area is reached from the Stoke Park Drive side of the park. Beyond the play equipment, Bourne Park has wide open lawns for games and picnics and gentle walking routes. With its combination of a well-used playground, seasonal water play and free, round-the-clock access, Bourne Park is a dependable family destination in south Ipswich.
