About Ribbleton Park
Ribbleton Park is a well-used community park in the Ribbleton area of Preston, just off Blackpool Road and New Hall Lane, managed by Preston City Council and free to enter. The park dates back to 1915, when Preston Council acquired its first four acres, expanding through further land purchases in the 1920s under the Health Act until it reached its present size of around 18 acres. For families, the park offers a children's play area, while older children and teenagers have a skate park and a multi-use ball-games wall. There is a strong sporting offer too, with two bowling greens, football pitches and a junior football pitch, plus a community garden that adds a quieter, greener corner. Practical facilities are helpful for a family visit, including an on-site car park and public toilets with accessible disabled toilets. The combination of play equipment, wheeled sport and ball games means the park caters for a spread of ages in one place. Set within a residential part of the city, Ribbleton Park is a convenient neighbourhood green space for play, sport and community gardening in east Preston.
