About Meadow Lane Recreation Ground
Meadow Lane Recreation Ground is an Oxford City Council playing field in East Oxford, close to the Iffley Fields and the River Thames, reached via Meadow Lane off the Iffley and Cowley roads. It offers separate junior and toddler playgrounds set in a large area of open green space, so families with children of different ages are well catered for. Equipment includes a zip wire, swings, monkey bars, a roundabout, a wooden climbing frame, a slide, a sit-in see-saw and a playhouse, with picnic tables alongside. Next to the playground is a popular skate park, where the Oxford Wheels Project and the council run weekly skateboard coaching sessions for young people, though scooters are not permitted on it. The surrounding playing field gives plenty of room for ball games and running about. The site has accessible paths and is buggy friendly. There are no toilets or refreshments on site, but cafes and takeaways on Cowley Road are nearby, and limited off-street parking can be found on surrounding streets. Dogs are not allowed in the play area. As a council recreation ground it is free and open to all.
