About Thorplands Play Area
Thorplands Play Area is a free, public green space in the Thorplands neighbourhood of east Northampton, within West Northamptonshire. It sits on the green between Billing Brook Road and Crestwood Road, where the previous ageing play equipment was replaced as part of a wider estate improvement scheme. The refreshed site is laid out as two separate play areas: a toddler area with several pieces of equipment aimed at the youngest children, and a junior area with equipment for older children, so families with a range of ages are catered for. An outdoor gym was also installed alongside the playground, adding free-to-use fitness equipment for teenagers and adults. The project was delivered with support from local community regeneration funding and the Government's Pocket Park Programme, reflecting its role as an accessible neighbourhood green rather than a large formal park.
