About Dawley Park
Dawley Park is a Green Flag-accredited urban park in the heart of Great Dawley, in the south of Telford. Covering around 1.04 hectares, it was officially opened in 1902 to mark the coronation of King Edward VII, on land donated by colliery owner William Kenyon-Slaney and industrialist Mr Simpson. Today the park combines heritage with everyday recreation. Families will find a play area for children aged 3 to 14, while the wider park offers two tennis courts, a bowling green and an outdoor gym for older children and adults. Formal planting runs throughout, with shrub beds, herbaceous borders, seasonal floral displays and memorial gardens set behind memorial gates, giving the park a traditional, well-kept character. There are no toilets on or immediately beside the park. The park has no dedicated car park of its own, but the nearby Station Road and George Street council car parks both include disabled bays and are within easy walking distance. As a Telford & Wrekin Council park it is free to enter and open to the public, making it a handy, central stop for play and sport in Dawley.
