About Tunstall Park (Victoria Park)

Tunstall Park, also known as Victoria Park, is a Grade II listed park in Tunstall, laid out on former mining land by council surveyor Absalom Reade Wood and officially opened in 1908. Managed by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, the 8.5-hectare park is one of the city's heritage parks and sits bounded by Victoria Park Road, Queen's Avenue and Little Chell Lane. At its centre is a boating lake home to waterfowl such as mallard, goosander, coot and moorhen, encircled by paths that pass a 1907 clock tower commemorating local pottery owner William Adams. Families come for the children's play area, which the council refurbished in 2020 alongside improvements to the boathouse, bandstand, park gates and footpaths. Around the play area the park offers outdoor gym equipment, tennis courts, basketball courts, a skate park and a playing field, making it a lively all-ages space, together with a nature trail and wildflower areas for quieter exploration. The Arts and Crafts pavilion, completed in 1911, now operates as the Floral Hall Cafe. There are toilets on site and disabled access throughout. The park has 24-hour public access, with staff present during weekday daytimes. Dogs are welcome across the park but not inside the children's play area. Entry is free, making it a popular community destination.
