About Singleton Park

Singleton Park is the largest urban park in Swansea, a 250-acre green space in Sketty managed by Swansea Council and opened to the public in 1919 after the land was bought from the Vivian family estate. It sits beside Swansea University's Singleton campus and close to the seafront, and is listed Grade I on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Wales. Families head for the play area beside the boating lake, which was refurbished as part of the council's multi-million-pound play upgrade programme and now has two swing units, a junior multiplay unit, a double spacenet with a joining bridge, a trampoline and a wheelchair-friendly roundabout. The rest of the park rewards a longer visit, with a walled botanical garden, an ornamental garden near the university entrance, a boating lake, a crazy golf course and the 1925 Gorsedd stone circle. Public toilets and a refreshment kiosk serve the boating-lake area. Entry to the park is free, and there is on-site parking off Mumbles Road. The grounds are open access, though the gardens and seasonal attractions keep their own daytime hours.
