About Buile Hill Park Playground
Buile Hill Park sits on the grounds of Buile Hill House, designed by architect Sir Charles Barry and built in 1825-27 for the Manchester merchant Thomas Potter — reputedly the only house in which Barry used the Greek Revival style. Salford Corporation bought the estate in 1902 and opened the park to the public on 22 July 1903, and the mansion later housed a natural history museum and, from 1975, a mining museum. At around 35 hectares it is Salford's largest public park, on the National Heritage List at Grade II. For families there are two play areas — a metal set with swings, a zip wire, climbing frames and a sandpit with a sit-on digger, plus a wooden set with monkey bars and balance bars — alongside tennis courts, a multi-use games area, an outdoor gym and a tree trail.
