About Wilson Road Recreation Ground
Wilson Road Recreation Ground is a neighbourhood park in Ely, in the west of Cardiff, listed among the city's official parks and open spaces and managed by Cardiff Council. It is a local recreation ground serving the surrounding residential streets, with open grassland for informal games and ball play. For families, the main attraction is its children's play provision, which is divided into a Wilson Road Toddler play area and a Wilson Road Junior play area, so that younger and older children each have equipment suited to their age. These play areas form part of Cardiff Council's maintained children's play network and are regularly checked under the Council's play-area safety inspection programme. Flat and easy to reach on foot, the recreation ground is an everyday green space for the Ely community rather than a destination park, but its split toddler and junior playgrounds make it genuinely useful for families with children of different ages. There is no dedicated car park, with visitors relying on on-street parking in the surrounding streets, and no confirmed toilets or refreshment facilities on site. The recreation ground is open at all times with no charge for admission.
