About Spencer Park

Spencer Park is a historic park in the Earlsdon district of Coventry, opened in 1883 on land given to the city by the benefactor David Spencer, and is a free, public park managed by Coventry City Council. The park is split by the road into two halves: a larger open grass recreation area overlooking King Henry VIII School, and a smaller formal side with flower beds and lawns. The children's play area sits on the formal side and is well equipped, with two toddler swings, two junior swings, a small multi-play with a slide, a larger multi-play with a climbing frame and slide, a gravity bowl and a roundabout. Alongside the play area the park offers tennis courts, a bowling green with a pavilion, a football pitch, basketball and a cycleway, giving it a strong mix of family and sports facilities. Its formal gardens, mature setting and community feel make it one of the best-loved neighbourhood parks in this part of the city. Open from dawn to dusk, it is within easy reach of Earlsdon's shops and is served by on-street parking nearby.
