About Perrett's Park

Perrett's Park is a hillside park on the boundary of the Knowle and Windmill Hill wards of south Bristol, managed by Bristol City Council. The council bought the land from Lady Smyth of Ashton Court for 1,000 pounds in 1923, and the park opened in the mid-1920s, taking the name Perrett's Park by 1927. Covering around 16 acres of mostly open grassland on a steeply sloping site, it forms a natural amphitheatre or bowl, with a long terrace at the top and sweeping views across the city towards Ashton Court. In 2013 it was marked as one of Bristol's most picturesque parks with a viewpoint plaque funded by the local community group. Its fenced, dog-free children's play area, refurbished in 2015, is suitable for children aged 2 and upwards and includes swings, a bank slide and climbing frames for various ages. Beyond the playground there are paved walkways and benches from which to enjoy the view. There is no admission charge and the park is open at all times.
